Advice when purchasing Programmers and Performance Chips, you want to know the differences between Chips and Programmers? well here is what you need to know.  Performance Chips actually plug into the 33 pin port on the back of your ECU and actually rewrite or "flash" your ECU with new parameters such as A/F ratio and spark gap ect....  Chips have to remain plugged into the ECU in order to keep the current performance parameters and can only hold a select amount of tune settings.

Performance Programmers or "Handhelds" plug into the OBDII Port on your ECU and can store your original OEM parameters so you can switch back your stock tune at the press of a button.  Being that programmers use OBDII ports to change your vehicle tune they are much more accurate and emissions safe and offer many more tuning options and changes.  Usually Programmers can store an almost unlimited amount of tunes in there memory plus they can be software upgraded via a pc connection to offer even more tunes as opposed to a performance chip which must be sent in and manually changed.  Please pick what you think is right for your needs as there are pro's and con's too both programmers and chips.
